| While
in Pasadena, Pastor Mike studied at Fuller Theological Seminary and the U.S. Center
for World Mission, and spent a great deal of time traveling and preaching in Asia.
During this time he became acquainted with John Wimber (founder of the Association
of Vineyard Churches) and attended Vineyard Christian Fellowship in Anaheim.
After
moving to the Saddleback Valley in 1986, the Hudgins family made Mission Viejo
Vineyard their home church, while Pastor Mike continued his missions ministry in
Asia and other parts of the world. Pastor Mike became part of the staff at Mission
Viejo Vineyard in 1990, where he served as an assistant pastor to Ed Piorek until
1997. During his time there, Pastor Mike also began to develop
Global Network Ministries (1992) - a church planting missions organization that
ministers to the poor in developing nations. In November 1997, Mission Viejo Vineyard
formally sent Mike and Janiece to start Vineyard Community Church in Laguna Niguel,
CA. Global Network Ministries now serves as the missions arm of Vineyard Community
Church. Mike and Janiece have four children ranging in
age from fifteen to twenty-six. Janiece helps to lead worship in the church and is
heavily involved with the women's ministry. The three boys, John (26), David (23), and Stephen (15) love all
kinds of sports and music. Michelle (22), the only girl, loves music, dance and
travel overseas. Pastor Mike is also "Coach Mike," having coached baseball
over the years for his sons' teams.
Ed
Piorek has been involved in pastoral ministry since 1972. In the early 1980's
he started Calvary Chapel of San Clemente, which eventually became the Vineyard
Christian Fellowship of San Clemente. In 1986, Ed was led by God to move the church
to Mission Viejo. Recently the Lord spoke clearly to Pastor Ed that the church
was to merge with VCC in order to move forward in the things God had for the church
and the Saddleback area.
Early on in his ministry Ed traveled extensively
with John Wimber and Vineyard Ministries International, teaching on healing, deliverance
and the Fatherhood of God. Since the late 1980's he has been conducting his "Father
Loves You" conference nationally and in several foreign countries.
Ed published his first book, Essential Manhood in 1996, and his second,
The Father Loves You, in 1999 by Vineyard International Publishing. Ed
and Janet now serve at VCC as Pastors Emeritus in addition to their continuing
ministry to the Body of Christ through the "Father
Loves You" ministries.
Ed and Janet live in Mission Viejo and
have three adult sons and three grandchildren.
